Original Broken Sword added exclusively to GOG's Director’s Cut edition

Thanks to industry legend Charles Cecil and Revolution Software, the original version of the acclaimed adventure game is available as an exclusive bonus to gamers who purchase Broken Sword Director’s Cut.

After the release of Broken Sword Director's Cut, we saw lots of you asked for the original game. We've joined forces with Charles Cecil to bring the 1996 version of Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars (a.k.a. The Circle of Blood) to GOG's catalogue. Users who purchase the high-resolution Broken Sword Director’s Cut will receive the acclaimed original as a free downloadable bonus. Anyone who has already purchased Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars Director’s Cut can download the classic for free from the bonus materials.

Broken Sword Director’s Cut with the original version of the game is exclusively available at GOG.com for the low price of $5.99.

This might have been asked already, but why is it only 200MB or so when my backup files of the original release are like 1GB+?

Better compression? How large is the GOG edition installed?

ScummVM can use compressed audio files, so ogg is used for the complete music.

I love you all! GOG!

this is really awesome! just like with the Goblins, ultra-fans ask for original and voila: it's here! :D

it also reminds me that I need to finish the second Broken Sword as the original game from my CDs was corrupt and I couldn't get past one of the last scenes...

Wow. Just wow.

Awesome work, gog.

Nice for gog to have done this, though i already have both the directors cut and orig versions. There is a fan made broken sword 2.5 available free (and legal) which is worth playing, easy to find but mabye gog could put that on the site. Also would love to see broken sword 4 - Angel of death on the site, although that one does have some graphic issue with vista and 7, mabye gog could sort that out. Still it is good to see that Gog do listen. What about some more game posts guys.

rs2yjz: I'm going to stop and play the original first : D
It's the best way around, yep. Play the original as it was released, then look at what's been added and changed. It makes less sense to play an expanded version and then try and judge the original.

Having said that, as I wrote before it's pretty easy to tell when there's new content because of the jarring jump in quality. Not a fan.

Thanks for arranging this GOG (and Revolution of course). I like the directors cut on iPod, but I think the original version is better on the PC.

Edit: There seems to be a bug that crashes the program when trying to load and save. There is a thread with a couple of solutions here.

Yah... as I just posted in that thread though, you can just load this version into ScummVM and it works perfectly.

EDIT: I just realized that many user reviews for this game might no longer be up to date because of this...

It´s a pity that an old review can´t be edited. It will be there forever and ever, and ever, and ever...
