GOG.com list: editorials

Take a look behind the scenes to see how some of the best PC games of all time were made. We've put together a convenient list of all GOG.com editorials/retrospectives that have been posted.

From the very beginning of GOG.com we wanted to be something more than just a digital distribution outlet with old games. Our goal was to create a community of people who share the same passion for classic PC games. You may not have realized that we've worked with some great video game journalists to publish a number of retrospective articles to show off the development process of some of the best games of all time. Hit the jump to find links to all editorials that have been released on GOG.com.

Below you'll find links to all editorials that have been released on GOG.com with a short description.

Editorial: Giants: Citizen Kabuto was the first retrospective on GOG.com. Evan Shamoon took us back to The Year 2000 and showed us how the first game developed by Planet Moon Studios came to be.

Editorial: Sacrifice - this time Evan Shamoon takes us behind the scenes of the development process of David Perry and Shiny's Sacrifice.

Editorial: interview with the creators of the friendly Mudokon. Lorne Lanning from Oddworld Inhabitants talks about how it all began.

Editorial: Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus - this time Lorne Lanning tells David Craddock about the pressure of creating a sequel to the well-received Abe's Oddysee and reveals the message he hopes all Oddworld players take from his games.

Editorial: Freespace 2 - together with Ed Zitron, we take you back to 1999 to see what determined the success of Freespace 2, one of the best space sims ever.

Interview with Greg Zeschuk on MDK 2 - Tom Ohle, GOG.com's main PR force, talks with his first boss in the gaming industry, Greg Zeschuk of BioWare, about the crazy and creative times when MDK 2 was in development.

Editorial: Fallout - during Fallout Week on GOG.com we posted two retrospectives about the Fallout series. In the first article David Craddock, together with Tim Cain and Chris Taylor from the now-defunct Black Isle Studios, take a look back at how the classic was made.

Editorial: Fallout 2 - this time David Craddock talks to Chris Avellone about the development process of the sequel to one of the best RPG games ever created.

Indeed a thank you, I know this was something a few of us were requesting a while back, so some people be happy. Or at least, I am, as it makes it easier to keep track of them all :)
Is this going to be linked elsewhere on the main page?, as it will soon fall away in the news and forum posts.

The Giants: Citizen Kabuto one and the Sacrifice one make me miss Shiny Entertainment so much.

In Hungary, we have a (mosty) PC magazine in which there is a one-page article about a classic game/series, which is chosen based on some actuality in the game indusrty (in the latest edition, it was about the Duke Nukem series, actual because of 3DR's demise; in the edition before that, it was about the Gobli(ii)ns-series, because of the new Goblins-game, etc.). The guy who does it has quite an insight on this topic, and has a good style as well, so it's always a good read.
I mentioned it because these editorials remind slightly me of those articles, and I feel somewhat spoiled, that I have at least double the dosage of good, classic game-related reads ;-).
