Score big, win one of three free games!
Jul 3, 2009
Who doesn't love a good old-fashioned pinball showdown to celebrate the weekend and our great pinball promo? For the next week we'll be accepting submissions in the Pro Pinball Fantastic Journey high score competition! All you have to do to enter -- in addition to owning a copy of the game here at GOG.com -- is send a screenshot of your highest score to users@gog.com. Next Friday at noon EDT we'll award the top 3 scores with a free game of their choice from the GOG.com catalogue! Pinball wizards, let's see what you've got -- there's no limit to the number of times you can enter (though you can only win once)! If you don't own Pro Pinball Fantastic Journey yet, you're in luck -- it's just $4.79 as part of this weekend's pinball promo!

New releases: Crystals of Arborea and Ishar III
Jul 2, 2009
Warm tear to you RPG fans. Now is a time for great rejoicing! Starting right now our Ishar compilation is complete, featuring all four games of the series. And to make the news even better, the price remains the same - just $5.99! This also means that if you already purchased the Ishar 1+2 pack, now you can download all four games with no extra charge.

Both games are first-person perspective role-playing games, which let you create a party and live out a solid storyline in a 3D fantasy world. Crystals of Arborea is the first part of the Ishar series, featuring characters some of you may recall from Ishar 1 and 2. The main protagonist, Jarel, and his companions must find three crystals to rediscover the flooded world of Arborea. Ishar 3, on the other hand, sees the party traveling through time, with consqeuences immediately visible in the timeline's relative present and future. Their quest - to save the world from an evil dragon's dark ambitions, before the Great Conjunction.
New release: Personal Nightmare
Jul 2, 2009
You wanted old, so you've got it - the oldest game in GOG's catalog to date, and the precursor to the acclaimed Elvira series - Personal Nightmare.

Personal Nightmare is a first-person perspective adventure game by Horrorsoft, also known as Adventure Soft. In this game you're placed in the shoes of a young man who left his home village some time ago, and recently received a letter inviting him to visit. Concerned about the strange form in which the letter was written, he returns to the village, only to find out his father, the local pastor, is nowhere to be found and the whole place is nothing like he remembered, with everyone acting strange, sometimes even hostile. Soon he finds out there's evil at work there and he not only has to find his father, but also proof about what is really going on in the village.
Affiliate spotlight: Rock, Paper, Shotgun
Jul 1, 2009
This week we'd like to introduce to you one helluva PC gaming site: Rock, Paper, Shotgun. They're all about PC games, so don't count on any console stuff.

RPS is all about PC games and it’s written by four of Britain’s top games journalists, who earned their journalistic and gaming experience with UK's best magazines, newspapers and websites. It aims to cover everything related to PC gaming from big releases to "esoterica from the format’s obscurest peninsulas." The guys from RPS were among the first to conduct an interview with GOG.com staff and showed the service to the world. So if you're not familiar with RPS, click on the link and enjoy your stay there - we guarantee you won't regret it! You can also follow RPS on Twitter.

New release: The Pandora Directive
Jun 30, 2009
Time to put on your well-tailored trench coat, brimmed hat and, of course, your favorite white sneakers. The hard-boiled detective is on another case and needs your help.

The Pandora Directive is the fourth installment of the awesome Tex Murphy series. As can be expected from a game with such an acclaimed pedigree, you'll find an involving story which is guaranteed to keep you glued to your chair, topped with some dark humor and well-designed puzzles. Like its predecessor, this game proves that games featuring FMV sequences can boast some good acting skills, which was extremely rare in other such games of the time. This time our favorite P.I. is hired by a Gordon Fitzpatrick to find his friend, Thomas Malloy. But, as always, there is more to this case than meets the eye...

Affiliate spotlight: DOSBox
Jun 25, 2009
Today we're launching the first GOG.com Affiliate Spotlight, showing off some of the sites that are helping out GOG.com and supporting classic games. The first partner we'd like to show some love to is DOSBox.com!

DOSBox is a freely available, cross platform emulator that allows you to run DOS programs. A number of games at GOG.com run on DOSBox software, and we couldn't be more thankful for that. The first version of the emulator appeared on Sourceforge when Harekiet and Qbix decided to make it open source. Just a year ago, Qbix announced that the DOSBox emulator had been downloaded 10 million times! We've taken this opportunity to ask Qbix some questions about DOSBox and GOG.com - read on to check out the interview, and be sure to visit their site! read more...
