The games we old farts never stop talking about.

Planescape: Torment

judge-z's rating:
250

judge-z says: You'll notice my list is in alphabetical order. You'll notice Torment is not. There's a reason Torment is at the top of the list - the same reason that we classic gamers had a collective nerdgasm when GoG re-released it. I would have its babies.

Baldur's Gate: The Original Saga

judge-z's rating:
250

judge-z says: One of the greatest epics about the adventures of a miniature giant space hamster and his companions. Great party based RPG using the now aged D&D 2nd editions, back when Armor Class rules didn't make sense!

Fallout

judge-z's rating:
250

judge-z says: Who needs fancy 3-d graphics to enjoy a fantastic, sci-fi reference laden post apocalyptic adventure? Not me!

or

Fallout 2

judge-z's rating:
250

judge-z says: Does everything the first did, better, and with more. How many other games let you pimp a spouse and make post-apocalyptic porn movies, complete with porn star name. (Personal favorite? Kurt Loader.)

Descent + Descent 2

judge-z's rating:
250

judge-z says: It has not aged well, but for the time it was an innovative, multi-axis first person shooter in a ship. Actually caused motion sickness in some!

Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition

judge-z's rating:
250

judge-z says: While it was completely overshadowed three years later by the release of its sequel, Duke Nukem Forever, much love must be given to the first in the franchise.

Freespace + Expansion

judge-z's rating:
250

judge-z says: The gameplay is four stars - it has not aged as well as its successor, but the just plain awesome environment and atmosphere bumps it up to 5. Fantastic mission briefings, multi-stage missions that will test your skill, and a hell of a plot.

Freespace 2

judge-z's rating:
250

judge-z says: Improves on the first in every way, and especially with fan made patches to update graphics, holds up as arguably the greatest space sim ever. If you do not like this game, you hate fun.

Heroes of Might and Magic®

judge-z's rating:
250

judge-z says: It prettified its spiritual predecessor (The original King's Bounty), and while not as refined as its successors, HoMM birthed its own sub-branch of turn based strategy, earning a place on this list.

IL-2 Sturmovik™: 1946

judge-z's rating:
250

judge-z says: Not one of the older games on the list, but still one of, if not the, pinnacle of WW2 fighter sims - a genre you young punks seem to have no appreciation for!

Independence War Deluxe

judge-z's rating:
250

judge-z says: You got your Newtonian physics in my space sim! Delicious! Not as polished as IW2, but still worth a play for the unforgiving combat and unique spin on space flight.

or

Jagged Alliance

judge-z's rating:
250

judge-z says: An absolute classic in the turn-based squad level strategy games. Two may be better, but the series started here. Every bit as good as X-com, but without the unrelenting psychic assaults.

remove up down
or

King's Quest 1+2+3

judge-z's rating:
250

judge-z says: I personally never cared for the KQ games, but I respect their impact on the genre. Each in the series improved on the previous installments.

Master of Magic

judge-z's rating:
250

judge-z says: Civilization. With magic. And halflings. I still have my original copy with disks and manual, it's that good.

remove up down
or

Master of Orion 1+2

judge-z's rating:
250

judge-z says: Even better than MoM above. The game other space based 4-x games hope to emulate.

remove up down
or

Master of Orion 3

judge-z's rating:
250

judge-z says: On the list as an example of exactly how to take a beloved franchise and proceed to crap all over it. In fairness, it's the prettiest spreadsheet I've ever watched operate without any input. Seriously, "play" it to find out why we all gripe about it!

Might and Magic® 6-pack: Limited Edi...

judge-z's rating:
250

judge-z says: Now we're talking old school. Tiny 1st person view in the corner, whopping 16 color graphics, and one hell of a game world and punishing combat. Sure they get prettier, but it's the earlier games that best represent CRPG gaming from the olden times!

remove up down
or

Red Baron Pack

judge-z's rating:
250

judge-z says: Poor Red Baron. It has not aged well at all - but at the time it was a fantastic, realistic flight sim with a dynamic campaign.

remove up down
or

Silent Hunter® 2

judge-z's rating:
250

judge-z says: Effectively captures the paranoia of trying to spring - and escape from - a submarine ambush. I dare anyone to try and pull off a real-time mission, start to finish! (For the record, no, I never have. But I dare you to!)

remove up down
or

Space Quest 1+2+3

judge-z's rating:
250

judge-z says: Take King's Quest. Make it funnier, and put it in space. Add a cameo by ZZ Topp. Gold.

remove up down
or

Space Quest 4+5+6

judge-z's rating:

judge-z says: Yeah. As the above. Just better looking.

Vampire The Masquerade - Redemption

judge-z's rating:
250

judge-z says: In my day, Vampires burst into flames in sunlight instead of turning all sparkly and impregnating our young womenfolk! According to this game, they were still emo, though. Great RPG, not quite as good as a patched Bloodlines.

Treat your GOGmix as your child - name it! ;)

Coming up with a cool and descriptive title should be your first priority. Being original is in your best interest - bet you wanna get lots of nice votes, right? Go all crazy if you want, but be sure to keep it civil!

So, what are the ingredients?

Pick a game that belongs in your GOGmix from the list, or find it by typing something in the text field. Relevance is key here - Earthworm Jim doesn't quite fit the "Sexiest heroines of all time" bill now, does it?

Justify your choice... Or not!

OK, so it's not required, but now that you went through the trouble of adding a game, telling everyone why you did it would be a nice finishing touch. After you're done here, add another game, rinse, repeat.
