The best for pros and novices

Posted on 2009-05-05 08:52:56 by antihippie's avatar antihippie:

Chessmaster 9000 is one of the best chess games out there. Unlike so many other games which feature a Hard which is impossible and an Easy that is impossible not to beat, Chessmaster offers an incredible degree of customization designed to make you a better chess player. For the novices, it will guide you step by step through the basics of the game, and get you to start thinking read more 2 or 3 moves ahead. For the amateurs, you will get strategy guides, including play-throughs of some of the most famous offenses and defenses. And for the pros, you get a very challenging AI that often uses those very same strategies against you. You get a wide variety of boards, styles and feels from the most cut down visual representations to quirky battle chess simulators. I've had this game for a long time, and I highly recommend it.

Just Perfect!

Are you a novice player who wants to learn chess...? then play Chessmaster 9000.
Are you an amateur player - like me - who wants to explore the strategies and secrets of the game...? then play Chessmaster 9000.
Hell! Are you a professional who wants to train before a tournament...? Guess what, play Chessmaster 9000.
The customisation of this game is just amazing. You can choose read more from a variety of players, chessboards, pieces... You can see in the course of the game how computer thinks, you can see an analysis of the game and of your moves you have already played, you can take advices from the mentor and do a lot of other thinks according to your level of needs.
Also the data base of Chessmaster 9000 is huge. It has recorded chess games from 1619(!) until 2002 (the year Chessmaster 9000 publiced) and you can watch the games "live" on the chessboard.
Last but not least special reference must be done to the great "classroom" of the game. Every amateur player should take the cources and you will undestand who little you still know about chess;).

The Ultimate Chess Game

Posted on 2009-05-09 19:54:24 by Nicholas_3445's avatar Nicholas_3445:

When I was younger, I played this game with my father alongside Sanitarium, Myst, and other classics my dad was interested in at the time. I can remember that at first the game was difficult, and when I learned it the game became a standout title in my mind. It was one of the most complex and entertaining things I had ever played at that point. Before, I had simple games like Mario, read more Zelda, and Star Fox, still fun classics, but different after Chessmaster 9000. I could think more clearly, and I understood everything on the screen, unlike before. This game really influenced me as a gamer(as a person), and I'm going to buy this game on GoG soon.
I won't recommend this game just for the positive effect it had on me, though. It really *is* fun! Why else would I buy it again, ah? The AI is great, the tutuorial really works well, and the game feels very satisfying overall. I highly recommend this to any gamer who's into puzzle or strategy games, and to any chess enthusiast.
