I was in beta for Settlers III, ran a bug tracking site, and even got a Tshirt from Bluebyte for being one of the best beta testers. I'd love to play the game again, but can't find it. Why does GOG have Settlers II and V but not III?

Ubisoft could offer only S2 and 5 first, or GOG didn't like Ubi's conditions about selling S3 and 4, or whatever else.
Possibilities are (almost) endless.

Or S3 was such a weird one that not as much as people would like it as Settlers II :O
That was the case for me, though. I just couldn't figure the game out with all the settlers running amok without a headquarters to go into -- and the lack of possibility to build road just made my brain hurt in nth degree.

Of course, S3 felt like chaos for me too. However I got used to it over time even though it still lacked the organisation of transporting stuff.
But S3 and 4 are fairly good games, IMO.

I absolutely loved S3, it was a game I would play for nearly the same hours as Civilization II and Alpha Centauri.

I would love to see The Settlers III AND The Settlers IV!!!! I really hope they put it on the site soon! And the expansions of The Settlers IV too (Mission and Trojan Expansion!!!)!!!

Hope they will get rid of black box in S4!
S3 needs DOSbox to run as it doesn't work on Vista.

I played S3 and S4 for years. Literally, my younger brother and I saved up (my dad helped us out a lot we were in middle school) to get a second computer just so we could play that game against each other...it was epic.
