Ok, there's this new 2009 HD-Quality FMV game called Casebook. It's very very good, I'd compare it with the Tex Murphy games! For anyone interested, you can only get it through download on their official website: http://www.casebookthegame.com

If you can find Lone Star online pretty cheap, that's worth a look. Rocket Science studios came on pretty big in the mid 90's and pretty much disappeared a few years later, but their games were graphically way ahead of their time. From what I remember, they were one of the first studios to use full screen MPEG-1 technology for their interactive videos. It looked light years ahead of anything anybody else was doing (I'm talking 1995 here, back in the day when you had to actually own hardware to play an MPEG file). Plus the games were pretty fun too. Lone Star and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs were to of their heavy hitters. I think you can find those on the Sega-CD and 3D0 as well, but they looked and played best on the PC.

Here is some of the games that I have played off the list people have displayed that I recommend.
Night Trap - very weird game that was for Sega CD I believe.
Sewer Shark - Cheesy but really fun Sega CD game. I love it.
Star Wars: Rebel Assault - Really fun star wars game, the sequel was also really good.
The 7th Guest - One of my favorite games of all time. Great adventure game.
Under a Killing Moon - Great Tex Murphy game.
Daryl F. Gates' Police Quest: SWAT - Okay but fun game.
Daryl F. Gates' Police Quest: IV - fun game.
Johnny Mnemonic - Terrible game but I loved playing it, for some warped reason it is a blast to play yet such a bad game.
Psychic Detective - Ok game.
Star Wars: Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire Also fun game.
The Beast Within: A Gabriel Knight Mystery - Personally I love this game, not as good as the first one but still very fun.
* Angel Devoid - I remember playing this game and enjoyed but don't remember a thing about it lol.

Phantasmagoria - fun horror themed game, not great but fun.
Phantasmagoria 2 - A Puzzle of Flesh - Also fun but not as good as the first one.

The X-Files Game - Fun game but would have been better if you played as Mulder and Scully.
Ripper - Has Christopher Walken in it, and don't fear the reaper! Great game. One of my favorites.
Spycraft - Was a really fun game as well.
Hardline - is a fun game, but cheesy.
Realms of Haunting - fun game, but didn't play enough to find out if it was really good.
Urban Runner - interesting game, been too long since I played it, so I don't remember if it was good or not.

Burn Cycle - Fun but tough game.
Shivers 1 and 2 - were also a lot of fun.

I would strongly recommend this game. It was the first "M" rated game I ever played, and it left a lasting impression on me. The soundtrack is kickass, too.
Seriously, this game was hard but worth the effort. Beautiful FMV game with a beautiful plot. I believe it was the inspiration behind the movie and subsequent game "Johnnie Mnemonic" but I am not 100% on that.

I'm surprised. I'd actually really liked Silent Steel.
Then there's Voyeur, which I haven't seen mentioned here. Decent game along the lines of Night Trap. Play as a PI gathering dirt on a prominent individual. Story can change since your client is actually random from game to game. Caught a lot of heat for its "mature themes", but there's nothing worse than what you'd find in Phantasmagoria 1 or 2.
And two I didn't see on the Wikipedia list:
In the 1st Degree: Play as a prosecutor handling a trial for grand theft/murder. Some really great acting to be found here.

D.A. Pursuit of Justice: I spent months with this one. It's a Legacy Interactive game (at the time they were only known for their Emergency Room game), which means it's grounded in reality.
The full game actually consists of three "cases" (which were later sold individually) that put you as a rookie D.A. rising up the ranks of the Los Angeles DA's office. Handle a DUI, a grand theft and a murder case. Hard as hell if you don't have a background since it's based on California criminal procedure, which means it requires you to research case law as well as to build a case selecting evidence which supports each element of the charged crime. There's a reason it qualified for continuing legal education credit. Fantastic production values, though that's what Legacy was known for before they started pumping out shovelware.
