Hi guys,
Very interested in this package, but I'd love to play the series straight through. The one problem is I'm a compulsive game-saver (I'm always playing for an odd 5-10 mins here or there) and I don't think I could face a game where I'm heavily penalised for this.
Is there a fix available to get rid of this feature? I understand why its included, but its a pain in the backside for people like me.

I am not aware of any way to disable this.
I am not sure if you are aware of it, but you are not penalized if you save the game in a temple. Won't do you much good when there's no temple around, though (such as in dungeons or in wilderness).

Ow-wow, wasn't aware of this feature. Is it true both for first and second parts?

I too would like to know the answer to this one, since I too am one of those people who plays in short bursts on a laptop. I've always wanted to try this series out and I was moments away from splurging on it when I saw this message. I'm really glad I checked the forums first...I'd have been pretty upset had I found out that it penalizes for saving after I had already bought it. :P

I've read that you lose a bit of XP whenever you save outside a temple, but I've also read that it's no big deal, and that you should save often anyway.

Just the first part.

Oh, I see.
I have an idea how to work around this; need to investigate further.

Temples are nearly everywhere so finding one shouldn't be a big deal, even if you save every 15 minutes you should loose less than a tenth of a level, I never saved outside a temple.
There are locations where you get extra XP each time you enter or leave them, if you use as few seconds to exploit this the XP loss can be evened out easily, but that's not necessary.

And where are those locations?

Now I feel terrible - depriving GOG and attic of a purchase! The second game has no such penalty. I think I'll buy it regardless - worst comes to the worst, I move on to Star Trail.

Thanks for explaining away my concerns over this issue, folks. I'll put this one on the "To Buy" list...probably after the 3rd title comes out and they have some kind of bundle deal. I never get to take advantage of the really good deals because I never wait for the bundles. :P

Dominus: And where are those locations?

At some locations you can follow a trail and get XP for it, if you travel there again you can do it again. Each time you leave the hidden dungeon below the big city in the west you get XP.

Hi,
I have an idea. Is there any way, how to hexedit your experience points? I could count my savings during one playing and then I would add the lost XP back to my party members, wneh I will leave the game. Is there any possibility to do it?

Thanks a lot. I'll check it and I will send a report, if I will fiind something valuable.
