I want to buy this game for my friend, but he barely ever saves manually (he keeps forgetting to do so :D ), and so, autosaving at entering a new location is a must for him. So the question is simple: does JA2 do that? If you are not sure, please, launch the game and check for me. I would do it myself, but I can't download too much data on this computer.

No autosaves. Quicksaves and normal saves only.

I think v1.13 mod has an autosave feature you can enable in the options. It should autosave after each players turn in the tactical battles then.

Googled for a bit and found out this to be true. I just hope it'll work on GoG version. Thanks a lot :)
