Are your Video driver up to date?

I also have the same problem. What a bummer. And to answer the question above, yes my drivers are up to date

Just downloaded it yesterday, and am having the same problem. Totally unable to load a saved game due the invisible menu.

This is the same for me on my Vista laptop. This is the second game in a row I've bought from GOG which has had serious technical issues (Interstate 76 was the other one).
It's really putting me off the service, which previously I would have recommended without reservation.

Just reinstalled the game, one of my favorites as a kid. Game ran fine the first time, made a few graphics adjustments and played through the first level. Screen went black and I had to restart my computer. After that and since then I can't see the menu anymore. Really sucks because I love this game and never finished it. I'm running Vista but I don't think that's the problem. I downloaded the 1.4 patch, 1.01 graphics revision mod and the hook one who's proper name escapes me. Menu is still black and pressing enter twice doesn't work half the time, it just crashes the game or quits it, I don't know which. Any screen shots of the menu would be great, we all want to play our favorite game again

I get the impression this is a problem mostly on Vista and Win7 machines?
You may want to download and install DirectX 9.0c from the Microsoft website, just in case your OS only comes with DirectX 10 or higher.

Check the support section. There is a file to download and replace in the game folders that is supposed to fix that problem.
