Q: Hi,

When i go to install:

The installer tells me I have enough HD space (128gb free, in fact)
I confirm I want to go ahead
It starts then, about a third of the way along the green bar, it tells me I don't have enough space

I tried changing the destination for the install but the same thing happened. Any ideas?

Thanks,

David

Unfortunately I'm having the same problem with both Giants and Sacrifice. I've already sent in the tech request with dxdiag and screen capture.

If i hear anything before this thread get's a real response or fix I'll let ya know here.

Not sure if this is how i managed to get past it, but you could try moving the contents of the disk onto your Harddrive and installing it off the HDD.

Hope this option can work for you.

Surely if he downloaded it, it's already on his Harddrive?

Having now received the oh-so-helpful advice of "try redownloading" I feel a little miffed.

Two different games with the exact same problem and the files might be corrupt?

Unlikely to say the least. I am currently following their advice, but when it doesn't work I think I'm going to be more than a little aggravated.

I got the same response. Not really miffed yet, as they are definitely still in beta and this doesn't seem to be a terribly common problem at this point, but I do definitely hope we get an actual answer so i can play these 2 fantastic games.

Seriously, i love the idea behind this service and I sincerely hope this works out properly.

Edit: Actually, my 3rd download for Sacrifice finally installed properly. Going to try again with Giants.

I think it was either my download manager or bad luck. messiah's installed, now I'll try Giants.

Huh, a couple more downloads with Giants and it installed fine. This is a very strange error to get for a downloadable installer.

I wonder if the fact I'm using Chrome as my browser might make a difference?

I just got the same problem while trying to install Giants on my Vista PC. Trying on two different partitions with plenty of free disk space gave the same error. I downloaded it using Firefox 3. I'll try downloading it again and see if it's any better.

EDIT: Downloaded once more and this time it managed to install. Bizarre...

I downloaded and installed it fine. Still have the installer, so ran some checksums to give anyone still having problems something other than guesswork to work with. If it doesn't match these, then your file is different from my working one.

CRC32: b7c84048
MD5: 3caf674eaf131ec6af9ae20cc0043483
SHA-1: 7e064e68986c200e6c45889ddcdc1efa4a961687

Lots of programs are out there to get a file's checksum. Just google for them.

I think some old games calculate free space modulo 2GB. Just keep adding 500MB junk files until the problem goes away. Once the game is installed, you can probably reclaim the disk space.
