I'm mrkwang from Pig-Min(http://www.pig-min.com), and I recently did e-mail interview with GOG.com

http://pig-min.com/tt/2051

Anyway I think GOG.com is cool, and visit here often to see what's updated. (I can't wait for newsletter!)

You might also think GOG.com is cool, and that's why you registered & visit here. Anyway we might have different reason about that.

So I'd like to ask you.
" what is good thing for you, to visit GOG.com?"

I'd like to write a column based on that, even if Pig-Min is Korean site & writing will be done in Korean language. So if you don't mind, please share your opinion about that. Thanks.

- I could quote your nickname & reply for Pig-Min column writing. However if you don't like me to quote, please add that with your reply.

Some people may like GoG for low prices, for no DRM, but I love it for what it is in the first place: For Good Old Games. I mean... Ha! Fallout under Vista! Shogo! Citizen Kabuto! I looove old games - why, that would be for an another long topic :D
But, I'm sitting here every day now, because I love this community since the day I've first visited forums. (most of time, there's) No flaming, no trolling, only intelligent and meaningful discussion, which is the reason why forums exist in the first place.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I'm pretty much here for my love for old games as well, especially old-school point-and-click adventure games. I have yet to buy anything from GoG YET since I already own most of the good ones currently available on the site, but I'm hoping and wishing for my favorites to show up like the ones few people know about: G-NOME, Wolf, Lion, Sanitarium, and Hyperblade. Now those were real gems, and I hope others will get a chance to discover them :)

At first, I came here for the Good Old Games, like most of people I guess :)
Then with Rubberduck we founded an IRC channel (little advertising: #gog @quakenet.org and a Steam group (Obvious name), and I've made some cool friends here :D

So I stay here mostly because of the community, and because I enjoy making new buddies.

The forums are more interesting than the average too, if you skip the eternal "HEEY WILL THIS GAME BE ON GOG?"... Very few trolling (yes there is some Fenixp! Oh wait you said most of the time, nevermind then).
To be honest I cannot buy enough games here just to visit the website only for the games presents and their forums. So... yay at community imo.

Why do I visit GoG.com? Why mostly, because maybe, just maybe, there might be an announcement about some of the oh-so-lovely adventure games one day, someday (sigh) ;)

I've actually bought a couple of games already and will propably be buying some more in the near future even if we don't get any point-and-click adventures here in the near future. Being able to buy/play the classics for a very attractive price is the main attraction for me.

But just like some of the other posters, I've noticed that nowadays I come here also because of the community. I do not partake the discussions that often mostly due to my busy work schedule at the moment, but I do enjoy reading them.

And who knows what other reasons we'll get to visit GoG.com. The editorial "initiative" that was lauched the other day is I believe only an inkling about what they will offer in the future. When the new website is launched, who knows what pops up.

I really like the community here.Theres always something interesting to read around here. now even more if the gog team make more editorials. Also all the reviews and people talking about those games got me curious to play some games that I never would have tried like Hostile Waters or games I totally missed like Frespace and Giants. Since the prices are so low its a risk one can take. I also like the fact that the members of the gog team actually post in the forums and are actually helpful and a nice group.

edit: I also enjoy the fact that there are members from all over the globe.

I come here in hopes of one day seeing some of the games I missed over the years. I haven't bought any games from GOG yet because, as Nezabyte, I allready own boxed versions of the games I like that are available in GOG and as I have XP, don't have that much trouble getting them running. Once Windows 7 comes around and I'll have to buy a new computer that may change but that's still at least couple of years away.

In the meantime I partake in community discussions and promote the site in order to attract more audience and notice so that new games will become more likely.

For me the lack of DRM is the main selling point of the service (and the main reason I may eventually buy GOG versions of the games I all ready own). I would not buy them from Steam or other such service no matter the price or extras they might offer.

So GOG features in order of importance:
1. DRM Free
2. Compatibility and support
3. Good (Old) Games (game is fine with me as long as its good)
4. Price
5. Community

I come here for several reasons but the main one is to support GOG because I think what they are doing is important. I started gaming as a kid, board games (anybody remember Avalon Hill?). That progressed to video games and I've been hooked ever since. A lot of the Good Old Games are being lost to time, operating system changes, etc, and this site is helping to save them.
That, and the forums. It's nice to know I'm not the only loony still playing 10 or 15 year old games... :)

1) GOG is stupidly cheap. The games here cost less than a trip to the cinema. So, pay more for two to three hours of entertainment, or pay less for tens (hundreds, in some cases) of hours of entertainment.

2) No DRM. I don't have to check in with GOG to authenticate my game when I want to play, they don't have a client in the background recording what I'm doing. I buy the game, they leave me alone. THAT is customer service.

3) Quality. The games here, while not all to my taste, are of a higher quality, on average, than anywhere else. Every distributor, whether physical or online like Steam and Direct2Drive, sells some shit, because idiots buy it, it's good business. At GOG, I might not like this or that game, but I cannot honestly say "That is a bad game." The worst game I can think of on GOG off the top of my head is Messiah, and it's not that bad. Flawed, definitely, but not outright shit.

4) I have to support GOG because it's doomed to fail. I cannot see any really big companies getting on board because they have terrified themselves into hiding under their DRM blanket using the spectre of piracy. They will not release their massive back catalogues of great games (even though they won't/can't/don't know how to sell them elsewhere, "because they'll be pirated." They won't agree to a simple two-tier pricing system, and if they did, they would insist upon increasing the prices.

I do hope I am wrong about the last point, but EA and Lucasarts, to name just two, are the idiots, sorry, cases in point.

Yeah, i come back periodically to see the new games announced but also because GoG's forums are a very nice place !

Seeing as though I'm reletively new to the pc gaming scene (about a year now) I like to see what I'm missing.

Currently all I've bought is Giants: Citizen Kabuto which is amazing

So yeah, I like to suport anything that has no drm (looking at you, 2d boy) and gog is just brillient in my eyes =D
