When is a game perfect for discussion on GOG yet brand spanking new?

When it's a brand new C64 game; that's when. Yes, you read that right. After 20 years in development Newcomer is finally finished. That's just craziness. Read more here.

Yep saw this on RPGWatch earlier today. 20 years, hot damn. Gonna download WinVICE after my exams and hopefully find myself glued to the monitor.

I hope they release an emulated version because I don't think that many people have working C64s now. I think I might have one still but the tape deck is ancient.

I don't know about this one, i first heard about it like 8 years ago, when it was "about to come out". For what i saw, it was just a typical demoscene production, lot's of flashy graphics, awesome SID music but no gameplay at all. Then again, this was a long time ago, long enough for the devs to fix/improve the whole thing.

There's a few indie devs around that kick ass though. There's the Metal Warrior saga for example, action plataformers with a rocking soundtrack, also, the same crew released BOFH a long while ago and it's still one of the best action games independently developed.

There's even some guy that was recreating GTA 3 in sprite based, top-down perspective and had a demo out, but i don't know whatever happened to it, or if it was finished at all.

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that i'm wrong on Newcomer but i woulnd't be surprised to be disappointed once again.

I think the C64 might be older than me...and I was *checks manufacture date on self* made in 1977...

ALso, were they planning on passing this down to their grandchildren or something??

"<Insert grandsonish name here>, I am dying but you must cary on the development of the ultimate" *gaaaaack* thump *dead*

Game development. This era's new family run business.

It certainly puts 3dRealms in perspective.

I thought Newcomer was released years ago? I've certainly seen that you could buy it on their site several years ago. This may be "ULTIMATE NEWCOMER", but the game has been around for quite some time. I suppose this just means that they stopped fiddling with it and attempted an actual retail release.

I'm not knocking the effort, I'm just saying it's not "new" as such, just polished and (admittedly cool) apparently released in an actual physical format. However, if you look at the bottom of the site, you'll find the words "Enhanced Newcomer is no longer available due to the impending release of Ultimate Newcomer."

But in what form is not specified. I'm finding it hard to believe that they're going to sell physical copies of this. Although they might sell copies you can copy onto floppies.
