dilligaf291975: You should really check out fossil rim in Glen Rose, Tx there is some evidence showing footprints dated to the same time as dinosaurs. You are obviously far more versed in this subject than I, so I will bow out now. Thanks for the intelligent conversation without being contrite.
That "evidence" is as fictional as the Flintstones. Those "footprints" are not footprints at all.
Atheist, and proud to be so. Religion "thinking" is stupid, plain and simple. If people like wasting their time, energy and life with some crap-loaded millennia-old fantasy book it's THEIR issue, not mine....
dilligaf291975: for yalls sake i hope you are all right.
The ability of Christians to play the wowser and preach damnation to the unbelievers is exceeded by no other faith. It is why we have such a foul reputation and so little success at converting the educated.
no im not religious im spirtitual, i believe in the higher power but nott he other thigns they tack onto it (bible, do this and you wont get ito heaven etc etc) anyone whos alive can see there is a plan out there and anyone who believe we just turn to ahses and its "lights off" is a bit crazy. if things were truly that ransom we see stranger things.
Science has been proven wrong many times as everything is constanly changing so believeing in only that is flawed as well (tho im not discouraging anyone from believeing what they believe.)
the way i view it is simple thougghs of divine is capt kirk and atheistism is mr. Spock while logic could take you to most places its not gonna be everything. i think all religons have right points but then they delude that rightness with overacting and craziness so i take cirtin element from each place. i believe in the greek gods i believe in a main god i believe in reicarnation and that everything does indeed happen for a reason.
however wats diff from me and other things is i dont spend my time trying to convert people as i believe spirtuality is something person and must be seeked out by the person as it differs from person to person thus a "one way only" is impossible.

Science isn't meant to be a belief system, it's a method for evaluating information. If it's been "wrong many times" that's because it's actually working.
The basis of science is finding the truth. A good scientist is happy with any conclusive result. Either his hypothesis was proven right or wrong, an answer was found to a question. A belief is a hypothesis.
There is nothing wrong with belief as long as there is no factual evidence to prove the opposite. It's when people build a religion (usually for power over the masses) on a belief and exile/burn you at the stake for thinking differently or proving a belief is wrong when things go bad. Science is not the opposite of belief and religion is a (proven) political instrument. That's how i look at it.

They rule their flock by fear, the oldest trick in the book. This, together with the old "your hardship in life will be rewarded in the afterlife/nextlife" has proven very effective in maintaining order and keep the pawns in check.
Being an atheist myself I usually prefer people with religious views that promote "good behaviour for it being the right thing to do" not because some angry old man somewhere on a cloud would shove a lightning up your arse otherwise.
