My topic got nothing, so I'll try asking here.

With D2X-XL, I'm having some control problems. My bank axis seems to default to a 90-degress-left tilt, so that if I try to slide left, I'm sliding into the floor. Any idea what might cause this?

As much as I hate to get in the way of an awesome flamewar (this one ranks up there as one my all time favorites), if I might ask a NEWB question. Back in the day, I upgraded to 3DFX and for a soundblaster card that turned the MIDI music tracks into real sounds. The game was never the same after that. Similar to color TV I am sure.

Anyway, do Rebirth and "D2X-XL on nostalgia mode" give graphics that are as good as or better than the 3DFX version? Or will I need to get a 3DFX patch like the old days to get those graphics? I am probably not looking for the all new experience of different weapons, bosses, mechanics (might change my mind on that once I try it though). But anyway, right now I am looking to recreate the same feel of the game but with at least the improved graphics of 3DFX.

I downloaded the GOG versions on their website, and I am pretty sure these are just the old versions of the D1 and D2 series without updated graphics. I haven't tried the -superhires commands or anything like that. I am just trying to figure out if Rebirth and D2X-XL essentially do that without having to use commands with the executable or downloading the 3DFX patch (assuming that even works now, lol).

My sincere apologies if these are stupid questions and I should just download the mods and figure it out myself. I am always looking for a shortcut if possible.

Yepp they do! I know D2X-XL does...though I can't really speak for them because I'm a Rebirth guy myself...

But in Rebirth when you first start the game it should be about as good as it was with 3DFX...if you go into the graphics options in the menu, you can turn on filtering (depends on your monitor and personal taste whether or not you'll like it...I personally do!) as well as several other options that improve the overall look. :)

Also I'd suggest grabbing the Rebirth installer...I've posted it here and on the Rebirth page...it makes installation a piece of cake!! :)

Thank you. I did all of that last night and it looks incredible. Rebirth is just amazing. Also tried XL. That one is going to be a tad more difficult.
