I picked this game up for $9.99 at a used game store. I thought it looked nice but didn't expect it to be great. I was almost instantly blown away by this game. While the graphics look a little outdated (Looks like a game from the 90's, which I actually like) the mood of the game makes up for in every way. You travel through 4 different time periods, all linked together by a mysterious lighthouse. The game is more eery and creepy than outright scary, so don't expect in-your-face ghosts all the time. The game definately makes you feel uneasy though, and the plot twist makes this game stand above many other generic "ghost" games. If you play this game, you will not be disappointed!
NOTE: My experience is coming from the commercial disk. I have not played the version hosted here but I believe it is the same exact game.

Do I need to be familiar with Dark Fall 1 to fully enjoy this? I am huge fan of game story lines and would hate to miss anything because I am unfamiliar with some plot elements from a prequel.

No, you don't. There's one character who appears in this game that also appeared in the first Dark Fall, and there are a few "window dressing" items like a poster hanging on a wall that you will recognize if you've played the first one, but there are no other connections.
