So yeah, played Fallout for a while, forgot about it, and recently got back into it. However, now I'm stuck. Forcefields are preventing me from getting through to the end of Mariposa, and I have no idea how to disable them. Restarting from earlier on isn't an option for me, as all of my saves are from after I entered Mariposa.

IIRC the force fields can be shut down by using science or repair on the emitter, or maybe the field itself.

So the control panel next to it? Because one of the ones blocking my way doesn't have one. =\

No, I mean the "frame" or whatnot that the field is attached to.
Also, did you try using the skill on the actual field? It's been quite a while since I played FO1, so my memory is a bit spotty :P

Oh okay, I'll try those two then.
Edit:
I couldn't interact with the emitter, and using science and repair on the forcefield gave me a message that I couldn't use those skills on it.

Googled it, repair should work (maybe it just requires a higher skill than you have?), but there are other ways too: link

Use the power armor to walk through red forcefields.
Use repair on the yellow forcefields.
Explosives work nicely on the generators, or look for the control panel in the south east corner of lvl 1

Thanks.

I've completed FO1 three times in the last year, but I had no idea the radio could be used that way. I always temporarily disabled them with my Repair skill.
Good to know for next time. ;-)
