Here are some of tested and suggested mods for Fallout. If you have more that you'd like to share here is the exact place.
Note. It is better to test each mod with gog installer first before you add new one to this topic.

1. F1 Fatal Damage Mod
A mod that changes weapon damage and armor stats to more realistic.

Sorry for that. It seems like there has been an update of the patch to a 1.1 version. Here's a link to the new version (thanks Stavros):

What about this unofficial patch ? By the way you need to install this 1.2 unofficial before.

Reading the read-me, it seems needed, unless of course you guys already installed it in the version you released us ? :)

I tried to use the screen resolution mod to fix a glitch in my game where the bottom half of the screen flickers black every once in a while. It worked, but it's very laggy, probably because I have it running at 1920x1200.

EDIT: I fixed my problem by turning off my SLI settings.

Arrghhh, when I tried to save my game while using the high res pack I lost my original save and then couldn't save at all, no matter the slot.

There are also two great mod colections for Fallout 2:
1. Megamod

2. Fallout 2 Restoration Project

As far as I know (I've only played Megamod) they both have lot's of bugs, but still they dubble the game contents. Even if they are both just a collection of best availbe mods (according to mod autors).
Many location are in both mods.
