New additional materials: Sacrifice

You can well call this week the Sacrifice week. First the retrospective article and now a huge pack of cool artworks straight out of this great game!

When you thought we won't give you anything more on Sacrifice, we're doing something completely opposite :). With today's huge update, the additional materials for Sacrifice expand with almost 180 artworks! Remember, all additional materials are available after you purchase the game on the “My Account” page.

Yes, you guessed it right. On Tuesday we're releasing the remaining Unreal games plus the first part of Strategy First's high-octane racing series.

Unreal II: The Awakening Special Edition is the continuation to the original Unreal and was designed initially only for single-player alien extermination. But no worries all you frag addicts as we'll also release Unreal Tournament 2004 Editor's Choice Edition. This time the Tournament is bigger, faster and meaner. To remain in the atmosphere of fast-paced action the last, but not least release is demolition-derby racing game FlatOut. There's definitely something to wait for.

Essentially, Sacrifice was a 3D real-time strategy game before 3D real-time strategy games existed. Unlike the genre’s leaders at the time—the Command and Conquers and Warcrafts of the world—Sacrifice took the bold step of letting the player control an individual character on the battlefield, and offered them the opportunity to play the game from an entrenched third-person perspective. It put the player in the action for the first time, rather than above it.

GOG.com Gets Unreal with Epic Games!

Epic Games is another publisher who will add its Good Old Games to the ever-growing GOG.com games catalogue.

Thanks to the agreement with Epic Games, GOG.com users will get a chance to play DRM-free versions of the renowned Unreal series including Unreal Gold, Unreal II The Awakening Special Edition, Unreal Tournament GOTY and Unreal Tournament 2004 Editor's Choice Edition. “Epic Games redefined the first-person shooter with the Unreal series, and we’re very happy to welcome them to the growing list of companies that share our vision of digital distribution,” said Adam Oldakowski, Managing Director of GOG.com.
